Planning Your Destination Wedding in Italy
What are the legal requirements for marrying in Italy as a foreigner?
Foreign nationals need a Nulla Osta (certificate of no impediment) from their country’s consulate in Italy. You will also need valid passports, birth certificates, and — if applicable — proof of divorce or widowhood. Your consulate can guide you through the process, and we are happy to recommend English-speaking wedding planners who handle the paperwork regularly. Civil ceremonies can be held at the Comune di Novara; symbolic and religious ceremonies can take place on-site in the garden.
Which airports are nearest and how do we get there?
Milan Malpensa (MXP) is the closest international airport — just 45 minutes by car. Milan Linate (LIN) is about 1 hour 15 minutes, and Turin Caselle (TRN) is roughly 1 hour 30 minutes. From Malpensa, your guests can rent a car or we can arrange private transfers. Free private parking is available on-site for all guests.
Where will our guests stay?
We have 11 rooms on-site (2 suites, 7 superior, 2 standard) accommodating approximately 22–25 guests. For larger weddings, there are excellent hotels in Novara (10 minutes away) and along Lake Orta (20 minutes). We can provide a list of recommended accommodation nearby.
How does catering work?
You are free to choose your own caterer — we do not impose an in-house catering service. Many couples bring a caterer they trust, and our kitchen and service areas are fully equipped to support external teams. We can also recommend local caterers who know the venue well, if you prefer.
What is the best season for an outdoor celebration?
The Piedmont climate is ideal for outdoor events from May through October. June and September are the most popular months — warm enough for garden celebrations without the peak heat of July and August. Spring (April–May) offers beautiful blossoms, while early autumn brings golden light and the grape harvest. We always have indoor backup spaces in case of rain.
